I have 6 hammocks, this is the best one I have. I love how the hammock snugs the various parts of the body, it is like a natural form of memory foam. This is my first, and only 'string' type of hammock, and I didn't know what I was missing.
I didn't go with a string hammock because of negative online reviews concerning string hammocks...I most certainly should have known not to pay attention to the sheep/parrots that love to reiterate what others say.
The holes on this hammock are very, very small....I am now a convert of string hammocks!
I'm not sure about longevity, however, seeing as how I only use the hammock indoors, (it is my bed, chair, and couch), I foresee it lasting a long time.
In case anyone is wondering why I have so many hammocks, its because I'm 70, and disabled. I'm an amputee that has other problems besides having a prosthetic leg. I started sleeping in a hammock a couple of years ago, (something I wish I'd have done a lot earlier)...so I've been looking for a hammock that was not only comfortable, and one in which I could lie in to watch T.V., (hard to do in a hammock, as I always fall asleep and hardly ever get to see a complete show...hammocks are oh-so-good)....but I also needed a hammock which I could get out of easily with my prosthetic leg, not that easy a task especially for a disabled elderly man.
One hammock would be comfortable, but difficult to get out of, and/or watch T.V. while in the hammock as the sides would go way up in the air blocking the view of the T.V.
Other hammocks would be easy to get out of, but not that comfortable...etc., so the search continued.
This hammock is perfect for me; easy to get in and out of, the sides don't go way up in the air, (even IF they did, it is easy to see through the hammock)...and it is extremely comfortable; my search is over, I've found my perfect hammock!
EDIT: Not only is this hammock a superb hammock, the seller is the absolute best I've ever had dealings with. Being 70 years old and disabled, also living alone and not driving I do a LOT of online shopping, and have for over a decade so I've dealt with a lot of sellers; again, this seller is the best!
I had an issue with the hammock that was 'sort of' my mistake, and the seller is sending me another hammock....all I can say is WOW!
Also, it is easy to see that this hammock is indeed 'hand made', looking at it I can only imagine the amount of work someone had to do to make this wonderful hammock. In my opinion, the price of this hammock is too low, due to the quality, and the amount of work necessary to make this hammock. I am making that statement being poor, because I live on very little social security, yet I would pay a lot more for this wonderful hammock.
I love this hammock, and recommend it to everyone. I bought kammock python straps and a couple of carabiners, and I keep those and the hammock in my office in a little duffel backpack (it folds up about the size of a rain jacket and doesn't get tangled). I am a PhD student and often have to do a lot of reading, so I'll load the articles on my kindle and take my hammock down to this convenient spot on campus, where I can throw it up in moments and be reading in the breeze in absolute comfort. Other students always come by to tell me they are jealous of it and ask what kind it is (most people have those dark-colored fabric hammocks, which look stuffy to me, especially when contrasted with this one). The attached photo was taken by a passerby touring the campus actually, who thought I looked so comfortable he had to stop (he then alerted me to get my permission and that's how I got the photo).
My office mate and I will take breaks to go outdoors and lie in my hammock. It is perfect for two, or even three, people, and is perfectly comfortable width-wise or length-wise.
One of my favorite things about it is the way you can use the support of the individual strings to your advantage; if you set your arm out to the side and shift your weight, the hammock actually creates arm/head rests, so you are never at an uncomfortable angle or left with too much/too little support. The strings are so close together that there are no gaps unless you intentionally make them; I imagine you could like on it naked and not have a pattern on your skin (have not tried this though). In addition, the way the sun streams through it is just beautiful. You will not regret buying it, and I personally think it makes a wonderful gift to others.
These are incredibly comfortable. I slept in one every night for a couple of years. Hang it in a loose arc from supports 10-12 feet apart, fastened at 7-8 feet off the ground, and lay in it diagonally. This is the second one of these I bought. I got it for some friends as a house warming present. I still have my first one from over 6 years ago, and it only has one broken string that I tied back together.
Someone else said that they have gone down in quality over the years. I disagree. It seems that they have gone to a lighter weight twine for the support strings on the ends, and slightly shortened them as well, but that hardly matters because you don't lay on that part of it.
There are a few caveats:
1) You can't leave it outside 24/7/365, the cotton will deteriorate.
2) You have to be gentle: no shoes, careful of buttons and belt buckles.
3) Be careful not to tangle the support strings. When you take it down, twist them a bunch of times to make sure they don't get messed up.
While the hammock is incredibly soft and indescribably comfortable, it is also due to these reasons, quite delicate. When you get in it, it completely conforms to every contour of your body, like a big hug and I find it very difficult to stay awake in my little cocoon. This hammock is a lovely size, very very large, and fits perfectly between the hook I have on the outside of my house and an adjacent tree - close to 16 feet in distance. I only needed a couple clips from the hardware store and I was all set.
It seems that many reviewers somehow miss the company's constant reminders all over this product page and the product packaging to keep the hammock out of poor weather, and stored away when not in use. It is made of countless amounts of individual strings that are gathered every so often to make a very lovely hammock - this isn't a synthetic camping hammock. If you leave fabric outside in the elements it will deteriorate.
I worry that perhaps my belt buckle or something along those lines will get snagged and break some strings, and while this hasn't happened yet, it would be nice to see these perhaps a little thicker or tougher. The company advises if this happens to tie the string to the one next to it but I don't feel that is an adequate solution to a potentially real problem.
Its huge, for sure. Very well hand made, much heavier than I thought it would be. I bought two of these 1 shipped from the east coast and 1 from the west. Not sure which was which, but one smelled like natural cotton tends too and the second one had almost no smell at all, like almost inert. Its the most comfortable hammock I have ever used and I bough it as my bed for daily sleeping, I use a comforter hung under for warmth and a fleece blanket on top and I am 100% snug.

Wouldn't recommend using with a 13' stand as suggested in the description. I bought a stand to go with it, and despite weighing only 115 lbs, I was barely, barely above the ground. If I shifted at all the metal bar running underneath the hammock would hit my spine. That was laying diagonally across it. Laying vertically I was basically sitting on the bar with my feet in a sling. My stand is actually over 14' so I don't know if maybe I ended up with a larger hammock? I ended up hanging the hammock between my porch and a tree, and felt much more comfortable. The fabric is so comfortable and large enough to wrap myself up in completely to keep bugs and such off and away.
OMG I love this Hammock. I camp a few times a year, and I am just too old to lay on the ground. Hammock camping has changed my life. I always regretted having to get in and out of the tent, because my knees hurt crawling and crouching around. Oh, did I mention that I am 6'6" nand 450lbs? Yeah, this is the better way to go if you are a big guy (or lady). I would definitely invest in a rain diverting mechanism for the ropes, but otherwise this hammock is comfortable and well constructed. I had one of those nylon hammocks for a while, and I thought it was great until I got in it with cargo shorts on. I was napping comfortably and "TUNG!" the stupid nylon ripped perfectly in the middle and I hit hard on the ground. I am lucky I didn't break my butt bones! It was a camp rousing disaster. They all thought I was dead! Anyway, I have no fear of a critical failure like that happening with this since it's just a big net. Can't wait to use it again this year.
**UPDATE** My original review is below for reference. However, I've modified my rating from 1 star to 4 stars to reflect the excellent customer service I received. As can be seen below, the seller responded to my review and offered me a replacement hammock. I didn't see their reply until I returned in search of a new hammock - mine developed a hole, which I believe was due to the taught center. Any who, after seeing their reply, I followed up regarding a replacement. Low and behold, they sent me a replacement hammock almost a year later and were very quick to respond and polite in conversation. The new hammock is a HUGE improvement from the last one - I will say, it still is a bit tighter on one side on the other, but much less so than the last. I'm extremely satisfied by the excellent customer service! Thank you hammocks Rada!
I wanted to love this hammock SO BADLY! Honestly, I didn't even stop to think that a hammock could come messed up. WELL, now I know!
The hammock material is fine, but it feels cheaper than I would like for the price. My biggest issue with the hammock is the fact that the CENTER of the hammock is super tight, so it's impossible to lay in the hammock the way one would expect to lay in a hammock... in the middle. Any who, it's super uncomfortable, and I end up having to straddle the awkward tight bit in the center when I want to veg out. I thought about returning it, but figured that it'd stretch out over time... It has stretched out, but only either side, not in the center.
Overall, I'm just really disappointed. The shelter was very poorly manufactured. It's not an issue with wear and tear, or like some obvious defect, it was just very carelessly crafted. Would not purchase again, and would not recommend.
** UPDATE 1 YEAR LATER** the hammock now has a big hole in the center. I’m the only one who uses it, and I weigh 112 lbs. granted I’ve used it quite a bit, but all I do is lay in it. I expected more from this purchase!
P.s. - the tightness in the center never ended up stretching out. Perhaps, If the taughtness was appropriately placed near the edges of the hanmock, the lack of elasticity in the material would be a plus. However, the material is taught where my body should be, so it’s just caused a lot of unnecessarily awkward relaxation time.
First off, the craftsmanship of this hammock is phenomenal. It is very evenly tied and has many more strands than most string hammocks. When we first tied it up, only our rope stretched and the hammock strings were strong and held their shape, which means they aren't prone to snapping. The "matrimonial" size hammock is more than wide enough to envelope an adult, but it seems like it'd be a squeeze to have two adults in it, simply because it is so well tied that it pulls taught around the heaviest part of whoever is sitting in it, so a second person would really have to cozy up, or there wouldn't be enough give for them. Think a trampoline with more than one person standing on it. Obviously this isn't bouncy, but it's the same idea. I used to have a string hammock that had fewer strings and had a little more give because of it. It wasn't as "nice" as this one, but the looser strings allowed for more comfort on the butt and back. The instructions suggest that lying at a diagonal is how most people like to use it. My husband likes this, because it is not taught anywhere on his body, but I don't like lying at an angle because the two sides of my body are supported slightly differently, one shoulder higher than the other, etc. When I lay on it straight, with my head and feet facing the ends of the hammock, it becomes taught against my butt and back, creating no give for my head (so I use a pillow), and I can rest my legs in the loose sides created by the slack on either side of where the hammock was pulled taught by my torso. Once you get the hammock, you'll know what I mean. For the price, I'd hoped for an entirely perfect hammock experience, not one which I needed to add a pillow to. But I also know this will hold up over time, is very unlikely to break, and the main portion will not easily tangle. My husband is 230 lbs and the hammock holds him fine. The hammock is also very nice looking and adds class to our backyard, instead of looking chintzy like other hammocks have. Both my husband and I have already spent hours in this, and without any kind of pillow, my husband says it puts him to sleep.
we love. comfortable. plenty of room. easy to navigate. love. drawback is that the zillion strings would be a huge pain to untangle if it ever got tangled. i take great lengths to not ever let it tangle, so we've been lucky so far. also, it's so pretty i don't like shoes on it which is a bit OCD of me and a pain to my kids. deal. i'm also scared of it getting wet because of mold so i take it in and out so it avoids rain and or dew. but i love it. my husband and kids love it. it's a great hammock. we love.
