Excellent spring quality and makes the swing quite a bit more comfortable, It is NOT hard to install and you do not need "S" hooks or anything to install them. THe springs come apart and by simply squeezing the legs of the hangers together the legs can be slipped over the chains and hanger and then back into the spring for a neat and clean install.
I have had a swing near my front door for 25 years and never thought of putting these springs on it. Since the reviews were so good and the price so low, I thought I'd try them. Well I am totally and absolutely pleased with my purchase. The springs are very strong, definitely can handle the big boys. Having some spring action does make the swing more comfortable. I sprayed it with WD40 just to make sure it would be smooth and quiet, and it did the trick. I wish I bought these springs years ago.
I wasn't paying very close attention and thought these were extension springs. Lucky for me, they are actually compression springs and work even better than I had hoped with the wife's hanging basket chair. The original 200 pound extension spring was sufficient for her but not enough for me.
One of these springs is enough so I can use the chair now too.
Bonus is knowing the springs cannot stretch and break. At most they will compress to the point there they are flat (no more give).
These work great on our porch swing. With both my wife and I sitting on the swing, the springs are supporting about 400lbs without any issue. It prevents the swing from getting a stiff shock when you sit down. Just makes things more comfortable.
Working awesome for my sun shade. I have a 12x16' shade, and it gives nice tension while allowing some flex if the wind picks up!

Owned for almost 5 years with no issues. Used outside for porch swing that is used regularly. The spring works great when getting on and off. Use a little big of grease from time to time to keep it nice and quiet.
These are some heavy weight springs. Great for a porch swing. The only issue is that they are closed on both ends and need open hooks (C shaped) on both ends to connect the swing to the ceiling. In my case there was a closed circular hook on one end, so i had to buy additional S connectors to use these.
Wow, what an improvement. Don't need a special hook. Squeeze these, and they easily let you slip a chain on them.
Best spring I ever had.
Makes a patio swing much, much more comfortable.
Worked great for a 5' porch swing. Very smooth and sturdy spring.
These heavy duty springs work well with the antique porch swing I restored. The swing moves smoothly and there is no jarring when you sit down. For the reviewers that are saying you need another mechanism to hook these to your swing chain, that is not true. The springs come apart so you can hook them onto your chain and them put them back together. It takes a few minutes to figure out but it's not rocket science.
