Honestly, the thought of installing this was scary. I'm a single mom and I'm not exactly "handy," which is not a good combo. I've been teaching myself stuff little by little. The other week, I may or may have not gone 'Hulk' on a desk from Wal-Mart I was trying to put together. I didn't have much faith in myself for this swing, but had to try.
I decided to write a detailed review so that other less mechanically savvy people may enjoy this product without the fear I had. The product itself has no instructions or installation tools. None at all. It's like they ship you this cute swing and say "LOLZ have fun." Luckily, a nice person answered my question about how to install this thing, which you can read right above the reviews. It helped fuel my research and decide what installation products to buy.
The swing itself is nice, solid material. It's not cheap or flimsy and doesn't seem to have a smell or anything. It comes in three pieces--the swing itself, an inflatable pillow, and a hand pump to pump up the pillow. If you have a foot pump or another better pump, use that instead. This hand pump will take you like 20 full minutes to blow up the little pillow. I didn't realize that until I was like half done and realized I had a foot pump in the laundry room. But, at least they included one! It's better than nothing. Also, make sure you insert the pillow into the zippered pouch BEFORE you inflate it. Otherwise you're gonna have a bad time.
I bought a power drill, a $9 magnetic stud finder, this hardware WOSS Stainless Steel Oblong Eye Pad Anchor Mount with Carabiner - 600 pound working weight., and a package of drill bits to create something called a pilot hole, which I learned is a hole you make in the ceiling or wall before you make the real hole. Okay then. A lot of people will already have most of these supplies on hand.
After watching a YouTube video on how to install the drill bit into the drill (LOL), I found a stud in my living room ceiling approximately where I wanted the swing, and I drilled the pilot holes. Unfortunately, the hardware that I got has TWO screws, so it was difficult for me to arrange the holes both evenly and in the studs. I'm pretty sure one of the holes isn't even in a stud, but it seems to be holding up fine. Then, with my savvy new skills, I switched the drill bit over to the piece included with the hardware kit, and I used my fancy new drill to secure it into the ceiling. I yanked on it a few times to make sure I didn't make a critical (read: fatal and expensive) error, and it seemed strong. Then, I simply hung the swing up using the carabiner.
If your ceilings aren't very low to the ground, you'll find that the swing only goes like halfway down to the floor. My daughter has been climbing onto the ottoman and monkey flinging herself into the swing. I just found out today that HappyPie sells an extender for $4.99 + $3.99 S&H (on sale). I went ahead and snagged one today.
The swing is a huge hit. It's already been made into a clubhouse and her own personal amusement park. She loves twisting it as tight as it'll go, and then jumping in and letting it unwind really fast while she screams with glee and I wonder how long it would take to get to the emergency room. The swing doesn't seem at all compromised by her shenanigans. Also, the purple and pink are super cute. I've been posting pics and videos and some friends have mentioned they need to get one for their kids, too.
I wanted to buy Ikea's EKORRE swing but it was way expensive than this one. My wife found this product and we decided to try it. After installing one swing set, my wife and my kids love it. Because we have two kids my wife ordered one more.
My kids' friend has Ikea swing. It is hung on two hooks. Because of that, it is not rotating. Kids twisted the swing and release it, then the swing rotates fast. Although kids like rotating swing fast, from the parent perspective it looks dangerous. One of this product's features that I like is free rotation. So kids cannot rotate the swing fast.
Another thing that I like this one over ikea swing is the variety of colors.
One thing to note is the installation of expansion bolt. It is my first time to use the expansion bolt. I googled it and watched many related youtube videos. But I was not sure if it could be fixed to a joist firmly. I tried to install the expansion bolt. At first it seems okay. But when I sit on the swing, the swing falls. It could be either the expansion bolt is not good or I made a mistake. I don't blame the expansion bolt. There might be many parents who haven't used expansion bolts like me. So I recommend you to buy Ikea's EKORRE hook from you local Ikea. It is $3 and can be fixed using normal screws.
Kids love this swing. They even sit there while watching TV.
Pros:
- Cheaper than Ikea's EKORRE swing
- Looks similar to Ikea's swing
- More color options
- Easy to install
- Free rotation
Cons:
- Included expansion bolt is not fixed firmly to the joist.
I bought this for my classroom full of Au-some students with Autism and just had to try it out for myself first of course ;) ya know for uh.. safety reasons haha! It held my weight and was super comfortable so I trust the students will like it too.
The blow up cushion was extremely hard to pump full of air. My husband had to puncture the opening in order to get it to fill with air. The pump it came with was useless so we used a pump that came with a blow up chair I bought on amazon.
Happiness is autism . Son is in love with this pod. His autism seeks out places to squeeze into or cover up . He loved his old sensory swing so much , I wanted to try this. I did good. He loves it and it hangs over his is bed . Did not fill the pillow it came with all the way , by the way put it in the material then fill with air .. Hated putting a hole in the ceiling , but for him I would do anything . Would buy again for color change . Purchased the blue.
Well made with thick solid stitching. Strong enough support my weight while I'm holding my 7 year old. I purchased it as a therapy tool but it's so much fun for the girls to just play in. Extremely durable and worth the price. My daughters love it and I'll be purchasing several more. Definitely my favorite buy as of late. It paid for it's self within hours of taking it out of the package. Love love LOVE this! Thank you!

The jungle print is very cute we hung it outside on our patio for our grand kids, 3 & 5. So far it has weathered well staying outside the last few months.
The kids really enjoy it, they can sit and swing or twirl around. They have taken books and toys inside to play with them also.
Purchased this for my toddler with ASD and sensory modulation dysfunction. Installed it in the ceiling with separate hardware. Placed a sensory friendly rug underneath it and he enjoys it. As do many of the people that come over, everyone wants one for their house.
So this swing is A LOT bigger than I thought. I'm used to him going to the OT gym and it's a small one, but this one is very big. Colors are exactly as shown. The seams around the opening where he sits makes me nervous because they feel a little weak... but other than that no problems! Pretty colors!
This swing is great quality comes with everything you need to hang it except instructions. Which aren't really needed. LOVE all the color options We have it hung in my sons room and will be buying another for my daughters. Shipping was good too
I hung this on my covered deck and my grand-niece loves it! The blow up cushion was a bit uncomfortable, so we replaced it with a large round stuffed cushion.
