Description

The Nicaraguan Hammock Swing Chair is available in the Multi-Color (shown). The swing chair features bright and colorful Nicaraguan handmade cotton. The chair can be easily hung from a porch beam or an interior room. Swing Chairs are great additions in dorm rooms, bedrooms or inside patios. They are a perfect place to relax and curl up with your favorite book. The hammock chairs are handmade by Basilla with help from her daughter Jazmina. Basilla and Jazmina make the hammock swing chairs in Project Chacocente, Nicaragua. Basilia lives at Project Chacocente with her husband, Pedro. Tragically, three of their seven children died at the Managua city dump after eating peanuts laced with poison they found among the trash. The remaining family members were devastated and recovered only due to the grace of God and the tender care of Project founder, Cheryl Avery. Today Basilia and Pedro are successful farmers and enjoy having their children and grandchildren nearby. The money raised from the sale of hammocks will be used to support their family. Jazmina and her husband, Rodolfo, moved from the Managua city dump with their six children to build better lives for themselves. Rodolfo works hard to provide for his family and rides a bicycle 24 miles round trip each day to his job in Managua. Their children all attend Chacocente Christian School. Jazmina is a strong worker and is very helpful with the construction of new buildings at the Project. She will use the money to provide food for her family. All the ladies take extreme pride in their hammocks and it shows in the quality of their work. Remember, you are getting a great Nicaraguan handmade hammock at a fair price, and all the money goes back to these ladies and the Chacocente Christian School.
